Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Today is Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Well it is here in Aus, and I think it is November 3rd in the US by now.. yipee!

So I am guessing some of you might be wondering what the heck digital scrapbooking is...well maybe not since this blog originally started out as a place for me to chat about my digi scrapping stuff. Though it quickly metamorphosed into just some where for me to spew forth about life in general, my kids, my scrapping and the odd 'blue loo' dilemma. So if you've been reading for a while you should have a pretty good idea of what digital scrapping is, you should know that I design digi scrapping stuff for sale at pickleberrypop.com (see that image to the left of my latest design?) and you should know that I spend a heck of a lot of my 'spare time' playing with this stuff...

If someone had told me five years ago that I would call myself a 'scrapbooker' I would have laughed at them! I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler let alone cut one out.. and I don't seem to have the patience or motivation to see many 'craft' projects through to completion. However, I do LOVE taking photos, always have. I have been known in the past to spend hours putting photos in to albums and prettying them up with other bits and pieces and of course I love my computer and the net... so really it isn't that strange that I ended up scrapping digitally.

It's not so strange that I ended up designing either... I think I need some kind of creative outlet and mostly that was satisfied through work back when I was a preschool teacher. I could spend each day doing arty things with the kids, making cool wall displays and stuff like that.. totally satisfied that need in me. Then I had the girls and stopped working and well... I tried a few other crafty things... but this is really what floats my boat. I love that I can get some of the arty ideas that are in my head out and have them end up looking relatively good (in my opinion anyway). It is a great release.

The pickleheads over at PBP put out a special DSD newsletter with heaps of specials and sales - if you didn't see it head on over to PBP and follow the newsletter link in the bottom menu bar. Here are my special 'buy one get on free' offers...

Last night I played around with some papers from this old kit...
and made these...
Nothing special but gee I had fun doing them! And if you like them, you can get them for $2.50 in the pop shop, or if you buy my 'After the Storm kit' you'll get the swirls free (just add both items to your cart for the discount to be applied) until next Saturday Nov 10 (Aussie time) If you happen to already have my After the Storm kit... post a link in my comments to a LO you've done with it (make sure you include an email address) and I'll send you a coupon to get the swirls for free!

So here I am four or so years after discovering that there was in fact a thing called digital scrapbooking and I have learnt so many things - things you'd not expect to learn from scrapbooking, and I still love it. Who cares if I don't scrap as often as I'd like, or if my designs come out a little bit few and far between. I am not fussed that I am not one of the top earning designers, even though I still like to dream and make plans to maybe get there one day.. The point is I am having fun... so to any other scrappers out there... be they paper, digi or both, Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day!
